seriously funny – political clowning

Jul 10th, 2008 | By | Category: Inspirations

One of the important roles of art is to have us question what we’re doing. It’s as if the rules of our society are held within a larger set of rules we call culture. Some artists express themselves in that zone outside social rules, but still safely within what we all recognise as cultural. What we identify as ‘safely cultural’ will vary from person to person, and watching someone else’s discomfort when they experience somthing outside their zone of comfort can be amusing. Which I guess is why the Clandestine Insurgent Rebel Clown Army (CIRCA) works so well as a concept – clowning for a fairer political power structure.

Are YOU tired of humdrum protests and bored of capitalism?

Do YOU enjoy working in a team and ridiculing authority?

Do YOU long for extremely silly adventures?

The Clandestine Insurgent Rebel Clown Army is looking for fools and rebels, radicals and rascals, tricksters and traitors, mutineers and malcontents to join its ranks.

RUN AWAY FROM THE CIRCUS
JOIN THE FORCES OF THE CLANDESTINE INSURGENT REBEL CLOWN ARMY
